EID-EL-KABIR: KALU HARPS ON NATIONAL UNITY
Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has called on the Muslim community to use the Eid-el Kabir celebration to pray for the country.
Describing the season as sacred, Kalu urged spiritual and religious leaders to advocate peaceful co-existence among Nigerians regardless of religious differences.
Kalu stressed that the multi- religious nature of the country should not be exploited for unpatriotic ane wicked acts, adding that Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable.
The former Governor while admonishing the Muslim ummah to demonstrate the teachings of the holy Qu’ran and exemplary life of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) in their daily pursuits, added that the acts of forgiveness, selflessness, piety, alms giving and religious tolerance must be upheld by Nigerians for national growth and progress.
In his message, Kalu wished Nigerians a happy Eid-el Kabir celebration.
He said, ” I felicitate with our muslim brothers and sisters on the celebration of yet another Eid- el Kabir.
“The teachings of the holy Qu’ran and outstanding qualities of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) must be sustained by muslim faithful.
“It is a season for sober reflection as individuals and as a nation.
“We must shun violence and other acts that are capable of polarizing the country.
“Nigerians should be use this period to pray for the nation”.
Kalu urged the Muslim community to extend the merriment of the sallah celebration to people of other religious faiths.
