Just In: God made me for the development of Igbo race_Peace Mass Transit Boss
The Chairman of the leading transport company in Nigeria, Peace Mass Transit Limited, Dr. Maduka Onyishi, yesterday, said that he has a conviction that he was created for the development of the Igbo race.
Dr. Onyishi who said that he cannot make any investment above N1billion outside South East, added that he invests heavily in the region to impact positively on his people.
Dr. Onyishi who just established Maduka University at Ekwegbe in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, further said that he would use the Institution as a mission field to train students from different continents of the world on scholarships.
He made the disclosure when the President of Nsukka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NSCCIMA, Barr. Sam Otoboeze, visited the University to seek partnership with Dr. Onyishi on economic development of Nsukka cultural zone.
“Growing up, I have experienced Nigeria and I believe that God made me for the development of Igbo race. I have decided that I will not make any investment more than one billion naira outside the South East Nigeria. If that must be done, it would be either in China or America or United Kingdom. This places would enable my investments to have geographical or safety spread.
“I invest heavily in South East to impact my people positively. I want to give service to my people and God. As a transporter, I have made my name, and from the beginning, I know the plan God has for me. I see Maduka University as a ministry and a mission field, I will use this University to serve God and humanity. I would have put the money I invested here in different currencies and allow it to work for itself, but how would that benefit my people?
“I thought of agriculture, health and education sectors as areas of investment, but I decided to establish a university because it would offer me the opportunity to invest in the three areas at the same time.
“As a way to impact humanity positively, I will train students from different continents on scholarship in my University. I will replicate what the Europeans who train our people on scholarships do in this University. Today, my daughter is enjoying American scholarship, I will also give scholarships to students from Britain so that they would know that people from this part of the world can equally offer scholarship to them.
“I always tell people that if you want to make your children to be successful, give them the best of education. Once anybody obtains a Ph.D, the person is made anywhere in the world.
“So, there is no going back in my investment in South East because I have to develop my place first. You can make all the money, but you if didn’t repatriate them home, by the time you are old, you would find out that you won’t have the energy to take care of them, and you are not sure that your children will be interested in your line of business.
“I am proud to say that there is no transporter of my level in Nigeria who has his headquarters in South East. So, what I am doing is not by accident, I believe I was made for Ndigbo. I am a leading transporter in Nigeria and I am proud to say that I took the first position in transport business from South East,” he said.
