2023: Nsukka Catholic Diocese Vow To Pay Vita Abbah, PDP Back At Polls For Walking Out At Town Hall Meeting

The leadership of Catholic diocese of Nsukka, Enugu state has vowed to pay the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South federal constituency,;Chief Vita Abbah for disrupting it’s political sensitisation programme by staging a walk -out during the event.
Chairman of the Justice, Development and Peace/ Caritas Commission Political Enlightenment, Rev. Fr. Matthew Ezea stated that the programme was scheduled many months ago and invitation extended to Vita Abbah only for him to plan and mobilise his supporters, and, disrupted the programme immediately after speaking arrogantly that he contributed to the roofing of the Cathedral Parish building by staging a walk -out.
He lamented particularly that Chief Abbah who commended the bishop and the clergies for organising the political sensitisation programme ahead the coming general election, suddenly created confusion at the event by walking out refusing to respond to questions.
One of the priests, Rev. Fr. Jude Odoh vowed “We have 52 parishes in Nsukka local government area which has 20 out of the 36 wards in Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze South federal constituency. We are going to respond to this insult on us by Chief Vita Abbah today by walking out on all the dignitaries who gathered here. We have professors, former chairman of local government, priests who have served for over 30 years; we planned this event several months ago, and, invited him.
“When he(Vita Abbah) was speaking he thanked the bishop for organising this programme; he told us that he contributed money with Sullivan Chime during to roof this cathedral and made Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to come here and develop this cathedral. And after saying all these, he just walked out on everybody, after waiving at the people that followed him, and, they disrupted our programme”, he said further.
Virtually, other person at the event including Catholic faithful, members of other political parties, candidates and their supporters decried the arrogance and unruly conduct of the PDP House of Representatives candidate and his supporters, and, expressed regret that it is the attitude that had been responsible for the bad leadership PDP had been providing in Enugu state.
Some of them vowed that the coming general election will mark the end of PDP in Enugu state, and, the beginning of a new leadership culture in the state.
Those who attended the political sensitisation meeting were all candidates contesting House of Representatives and State Assembly elections in Nsukka local government under all the political parties which included the ruling PDP in the state main opposition to the PDP in the state, Labour Party, LP, All Progressives Congress, APC, New Nigeria Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, People’s Redemption Party, PRP, among others.
LP candidate for Nsukka/ Igbo-Eze federal constituency, Hon. Chidi Obetta described PDP government in the state as members of a “cabal” who do not have the interest of the masses and the development of the state at heart but their members of their group and urged electorate to be ready to vote out the party so as to liberate the state.
