Just In: Senator Orji Uzor, Finally Vindicated As The Action Governor And Pillar Of Good Governance In Abia State.
TRUTH MUST BE TOLD
Recently, the media has been a wash with expository revelations about Abia,the presumed*God’s Own* state and one begins to wonder what has been going on. Nawaooooo!
We may recall that each time, people complain that the problem of Abia state is “bad foundation” and when I ask by who,they say Orji Uzor Kalu. The question is how? Dr Orji Uzor KALU wasn’t the first executive governor of Abia State, but without conceding to the antics of the gullible ones, I again ask,assuming one’s father built a thatch house in his compound and the son becomes affluent, will he continue to live in such a building?
It baffles me that after close to two decades that Dr Orji Uzor Kalu now Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria left Office as the Executive Governor of Abia state ,the narratives have not changed. OUK who had meager resources at his disposal was able to embark on several tangible and intangible projects which the present administration that has been swimming in fatty allocations could not measure up to.
When OUK,the young energetic, vibrant ,accessible and workaholic Governor was at the helm of affairs in Abia State, workers and pensioners were paid their remunerations and every family was feeding well and political appointees were living in affluence and very proud to say that they were political office holders. Businesses thrived in Aba and its environs.What is the position today,particularly, road infrastructure?
During the heir days of OUK,Port Harcourt ,Ohanku,Oborhia ,Urrata,Aba- Owerri, Ngwa ,Pound,Faulks ,Ogbor hill roads in Aba just to mention a few were passable and motorable. Today, these roads are dead traps.All the major streets like Erondu,Umuimo,Umuatako,Nwogu,Nwankpa,Tenant,Ndoki,Ube,East,Ekenna,Ajiwe,Umuola and other numerous streets in Aba were rehabilitated by Governor Orji Uzor Kalu despite the lean resources at his disposal. Orji Uzor Kalu’s massive roads rehabilitation and construction in Abia state which the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo commissioned gave him the name,”Action Governor “. Why is it today that all the roads are impassable? Was there no rain when Governor Orji Uzor Kalu was in charge?
When Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was in charge of Abia state, despite all financial challenges, all the tertiary institutions in Abia state were real citadels of learning and the tutorial and non tutorial staff were better off as no one was owed his or her entitlement. Teachers in Secondary and Primary schools were very comfortable to the extent that most of them comfortably trained their children and even embarked on other projects like getting befitting accommodation and even cars for themselves. The roads in Umuahia never had uncountable potholes which we see today. OUK walked round the streets of Aba and UMUAHIA without security. Can a non performer be so free to walk along the streets without being jeered by the people? The answer in no.
OUK who is loved by Abians and non Abians knows that the welfare of the people is paramount and did his best to leave legacies which every rationale being expected his successors to consolidate and move Abia State forward and leave it better than they met it. Rather than improving on the numerous positive legacies left by the man that invested much and strived to place Abia state as number one state in Nigeria, they have succeeded in making the state a laughing stock in the country and beyond . Anyone complaining of bad foundation is not only deluded, but is being petty and blinded because, things were far better during the period of OUK than now.When last did workers receive their leave allowance and promotion arrears? What has the purported alleged bad foundation got to do with the welfare of the people and the provision of basic infrastructure to make life meaningful for the good people of Abia state?
My beloved brothers, let’s eschew all these acrimonious disposition of ours and see OUK as a man God has imbued with all leadership attributes in business and political circles. There is a clarion call to rescue Nigeria from her present economic quagmire and it is only someone who has the business, political, social and vibrant disposition with the requisite exposure that can do this. I expect all Abians to intensify efforts in the agitation for the South East region to be given the opportunity by other zones to lead this country that God has endowed with natural resources. All that is required is someone who has the political, economic, social prowess and sagacity to do this. With the versatility of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Whip of Senate who has within his first tenure,done what Napoleon could not do in Abia North,Nigeria could be heaven on earth if given the opportunity to serve this nation in the highest capacity. The time to market our own who is not only saleable but widely acceptable is now .We should join other zones that are persuading this man with the charisma,dexterity, aura,acceptability and all leadership attributes to accept this clarion call than attributing ineptitude and lack of vision to faulty foundation.For all members of OUK Movement and other Pro groups, the time to act is now.
